MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT BOMBALA
Further rainfall is likely over the coming days, which may cause further stream rises and flooding throughout the Snowy River catchment.
The Bombala River at Bombala peaked at 3.62 metres around 1:30 pm Sunday 21 March and is currently at 3.38 metres and falling. The Bombala River at Bombala is expected to fall below the minor flood level (3.00 m) during Sunday. Forecast rainfall for Monday and Tuesday could see renewed rises with minor flooding redeveloping from Monday.
What we are expecting:
Based on the prediction provided by the Bureau of Meteorology it is expected that flood water may start to impact low lying areas, roads and causeways. Flood waters may impact:
?the river bank near Mort Street
?caravan parks near the river
What you need to do:
People in areas likely to be impacted by flooding along the Bombala River should monitor river levels and the weather.
Should river heights continue to rise consider the impacts and;
?Stay up to date with information.
?Listen to flood warnings and follow the advice on how to protect yourself, family and property - see below for ways to stay informed.
?Keep your pets close by, always know where they are.
?Check on your family, friends and neighbours and share this information.
?If necessary relocate or secure farm machinery, irrigation pumps and other equipment.
?Plan when to move livestock as roads may close early.
?If necessary relocate or move livestock to higher ground.
